Abstract The interrelationship between asthma, obesity, and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) presents a critical area of investigation within medicine, given the rising prevalence these conditions globally. This article explores multifactorial interactions among three disorders that contribute to significant morbidity. Asthma, chronic inflammatory condition airways, is one most common respiratory Asthma in people with obesity associated poor asthma control, increased severity, an frequency exacerbations. Obesity, characterized by excessive fat accumulation, well-established risk factor for development OSA. sleep-related breathing disorder disrupts airflow during due pharyngeal collapse. Conversely, OSA may worsen symptoms through intermittent hypoxia fragmentation, further complicating management. review analyzes existing literature illustrate bidirectional relationships conditions. It discusses role systemic inflammation, hormone dysregulation, lifestyle factors, such as diet physical inactivity, persistence obese patients. Furthermore, it highlights importance comprehensive management strategies address overlapping disorders. Clinical implications are examined, consideration potential targeted therapies interventions could mitigate improve quality life affected individuals. Understanding complex essential healthcare practitioners optimizing patients By recognizing interconnectedness conditions, clinicians can adopt more holistic approach treatment, leading improved outcomes better understanding patient's overall health trajectory. Background The association between TyG-BMI index and the risk of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), a recently identified biomarker indicating insulin resistance, has yet to be elucidated. Therefore, this study aimed investigate OSA using NHANES database. Methods Analyses were performed on data conducted 2015 2018. Logistic regression, stratified analyses, curve-fitting threshold effects analyses utilized assess OSA. Results included 4,588 participants. Multifactorial logistic regression found significant increased [OR: 1.54 (CI:1.39–1.70)]. In age interacted with association, being associated only in subgroup subjects younger than 60 years [1.31 (1.14–1.50)], but gender, smoking status, alcohol use, did not influence association. presence diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular diseases also modified number such conditions was significantly lower, therefore significance associations observed those subgroups. Additionally, non-linearly associated, inflection point at 12.09, after which lower slope observed. Conclusion This demonstrates that elevated levels are correlated for OSA, underscoring these findings facilitating early prevention or timely intervention

Hypertension remains a major chronic disease morbidity across the world, even in twenty-first century, affecting ≈40% of global population, adversely impacting healthcare budgets managing high incidence cardiovascular (CVD) complications and mortality because elevated blood pressure (BP). However, evaluation management endocrine hypertension are not optimal clinical practice. With three unique case scenarios, we update evidence base for diagnostic this review to inform appropriate day-to-day practice decisions. Although most individuals with BP suffer from essential (≈85%), some patients may have clear underlying etiology (termed secondary hypertension), significant proportion these (≈10%) consequent hormone excess dysfunction one or more glands. Even if relatively common general correct diagnosis treatment is often delayed poor awareness among clinicians, including primary care providers physicians settings. An accurate timely crucial potentially cure at least properly manage consequences delays can be catastrophic, markedly higher end-organ such as CVD, kidney disease, premature sufferers.

The purpose of this review was to analyze the available literature on subject obesity and obstructive sleep apnea. We searched for articles time period from 2013 2023. Obesity is listed as one most important health issues. Complications obesity, with apnea (OSA) among them, are common problems in clinical practice. a well-recognized risk factor OSA, but OSA itself may contribute worsening obesity. Bariatric surgery treatment choice severely obese patients, especially present complications, remains only causative patients OSA. Though improvement control after bariatric well-established knowledge, complete resolution achieved less than half them. determination subpopulations whom would be advantageous an issue management. Background: The risk factors involved in obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have not been clearly identified yet. We attempted to systematically investigate genetically predicted modifiable and lifestyle behaviors associated with OSA. Methods: association between 34 OSA was evaluated using the two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR). Genetic variants for were acquired from European-descent genome-wide studies. Data sources extracted FinnGen study 16,761 cases 201,194 controls. primary analysis chosen inverse-variance weighted method. Results: MR analyses provide evidence of poor overall health rating (odds ratio (OR), 2.82; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.95–4.08), nap during day (OR, 2.01; CI, 1.37–2.93), high body mass index (BMI) 1.14; 1.09–1.19), increased fat 1.83; 1.83–2.05), elevated water 1.50; 1.31–1.70) hypertension 1.81; 1.34–2.45) higher risk, while education level 0.55; 0.40–0.75) correlated reduced risk. Suggestive obtained smoking waist-to-hip (WHR) odds, vigorous physical activity, HDL cholesterol lower odds. After adjusting BMI multivariable analysis, effects smoking, WHR, HDL-cholesterol fully attenuated. Conclusions: This indicates that rating, day, BMI, mass, hypertension, are causally OSA, which means these key targets prevention.

Rationale: While patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have a higher risk for COVID-19 hospitalization, the causal relationship has remained unexplored. Objectives: To understand between OSA and leveraging data from vaccination electronic health records, genetic factors genome-wide association studies (GWAS) Mendelian randomization. Methods: We elucidated using FinnGen (N total = 377,277 individuals) performing association. used associated variants as instruments univariate multivariate randomization (MR) analyses computed absolute reduction (ARR) against hospitalization or without vaccination. Measurements Main Results: identified 9 novel loci replicated our findings in Million Veterans Program. Furthermore, MR analysis showed that was factor severe (P=9.41x10-4). Probabilistic modelling strongest at FTO locus reflected signal of BMI, whereas BMI independent seen earlier reported SLC9A4 MECOM which is transcriptional regulator 210-fold enrichment Finnish population. Similarly, Multivariate (MVMR) causality driven by body mass index (BMI), (P MVMR 5.97x10-6, beta=0.47). Finally, reduced more than non-OSA controls: ARR 13.3% vs. 6.3% Conclusions: Our COVID-19. The effect predominantly explained suggests BMI-dependent effects level individual comorbid causality.
