Body
image
concerns
related
to
weight
or
other
dimensions
of
appearance
are
now
prevalent
on
a
global
scale.
This
paper
reviews
the
theoretical
frameworks
that
account
for
similarities
and
regional
differences
in
rates
presentation
body
concerns,
as
well
reviewing
extant
data.
Given
harmful
consequences
terms
mental
physical
health,
their
burden
is
high.
Interventions
mitigate
these
at
individual
systemic
level
warranted.

Objective:
This
study
aimed
to
examine
the
association
between
appearance
comparison
and
adolescent
depressive
symptoms,
mediating
role
of
body
appreciation,
moderating
roles
gender
body-mass
index
(BMI)
among
adolescents
in
different
age
groups.
Methods:
A
cross-sectional
sample
2645
Chinese
students
aged
12–
16
years
(44.7%
girls)
participated.
The
measurements
included
comparison,
weight,
height.
Multigroup
path
analysis
was
used
moderated
mediation
model.
Results:
Compared
with
boys,
girls
presented
greater
levels
appearance,
which
increased
age.
Body
appreciation
mediated
symptoms
girls,
whereas
directly
correlated
boys.
decreased
increasing
BMI
boys
but
remained
relatively
stable
girls.
Similar
patterns
were
observed
junior
senior
high
school
students.
Conclusion:
underscores
significant
relationship
suggesting
varied
mechanisms
based
on
levels.

Background:
Nowadays,
aesthetic
dermatology
treatment

self-image,

This
study
aims
to
explore
the
sociocultural
acceptance
towards
appearance
concerning
body
mass
index
(BMI)
among
female
university
students
(N

414).

faculties

a
stratified
sampling

an
online
platform

cross-sectional
study.
