Aim This study aims to assess the association between sodium–glucose cotransporter type-2 inhibitor (SGLT-2i) treatment and muscle atrophy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Methods We searched six databases from 1 January 2012 May 2023, without language restrictions. The primary outcome was muscle. Secondary outcomes were weight loss, weakness, malaise, or fatigue. Subgroup analyses performed according different definitions of muscle, duration, measurement methods. quality studies assessed using Cochrane tool. evidence Grading Recommendations, Assessment, Development Evaluations (GRADE) Results Nineteen randomized controlled trials (RCTs) involving 1,482 participants included. Compared control group, a meta-analysis showed that T2DM group treated SGLT-2i demonstrated statistically significant reductions lean body mass 0.66 (95% confidence interval (CI), −1.05 −0.27; p = 0.0009) skeletal 0.35 CI, −0.66 −0.04; 0.03). No deaths serious adverse events reported. included low. Conclusions may lead reduction strength compared group. However, there is still lack high-quality evaluate caused by SGLT-2i. Abstract: Diabetes and sarcopenia are emerging as serious public health issues. Sarcopenia, an age-related disorder characterized by loss of skeletal muscle mass function, is recognized a new complication in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Type insulin resistance, chronic inflammation, accumulation advanced glycation products increased oxidative stress, which can negatively affect mass, strength function leading to sarcopenia. However, specific involved has not been thoroughly studied. Therefore, this review aims explore therapeutic strategy related provide insight for future investigations, great significance improving quality life concurrently reducing incidence complications. Diabetes represents a major public health concern with considerable impact on human life and healthcare expenditures. It is now well established that diabetes characterized by severe skeletal muscle pathology limits functional capacity quality of life. Increasing evidence indicates also one the most prevalent disorders impaired regeneration, yet underlying mechanisms therapeutic treatments remain poorly established. In this review, we describe cellular molecular alterations currently known to occur during regeneration in people animal models diabetes, including its associated comorbidities, e.g., obesity, hyperinsulinemia, insulin resistance. We role myogenic non-myogenic cell types conditions or without diabetes. Therapies for gaps our knowledge are discussed, while proposing future directions field.

Abstract Aims Pre-diabetes is a condition that confers an increased cardiovascular risk. Frailty very common in hypertensive patients, and insulin resistance has been linked to frailty older adults with diabetes. On these grounds, our aim was evaluate the association between cognitive impairment pre-diabetic frail adults. Methods results We studied consecutive elders presenting at Avellino local health authority of Italian Ministry Health (ASL AV) from March 2021 2022. All them fulfilled following inclusion criteria: previous diagnosis hypertension no clinical or laboratory evidence secondary causes, confirmed pre-diabetes, age >65 years, Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) Score <26, frailty. enrolled 178 which 141 successfully completed study. observed strong inverse correlation (r = −0.807; P < 0.001) MoCA Homeostatic Model for Insulin Resistance (HOMA-IR). The were by linear regression analysis using as dependent variable, after adjusting several potential confounders. Conclusion Taken together, data highlight first time global function pre-diabetes.

Globally, millions of people suffer from poor wound healing, which is associated with higher mortality rates and healthcare costs. There are several factors that can complicate the healing process wounds, including inadequate conditions for cell migration, proliferation, angiogenesis, microbial infections, prolonged inflammatory responses. Current therapeutic methods have not yet been able to resolve primary problems; therefore, their effectiveness limited. As a result remarkable properties, bio-based materials demonstrated significant impact on in recent years. In microenvironment, stimulate numerous cellular molecular processes may enhance by inhibiting growth pathogens, preventing inflammation, stimulating potentially converting non-healing environment an appropriately one. The aim this present review article provide overview mechanisms underlying its pathophysiology. development nanomaterials chronic diabetic wounds as well novel methodologies also discussed.

Cross-sectional studies found that frailty was associated with prevalent diabetic microvascular complications (DMC). Longitudinal evidence in this regard is inconclusive and insufficient. We aimed to prospectively evaluate the association of pre-frailty DMC patients type 2 diabetes (T2D).

Body composition changes that occur during aging, such as loss of lean mass, are unfavorable at metabolic level and they can explain, in part, the appearance certain age-associated diseases type 2 diabetes (T2D). Separately, T2D is associated with an increase oxidative stress (OS) which negatively affects skeletal muscle. Our aim was to study differences clinical nutritional parameters, disease control, OS a cohort older patients classified according amount mass had. We included 100 adults than 65 years T2D. found women low fat-free muscle have worse control. Moreover, percentile present high value OS. The shows presence (LM) geriatric population diagnosed poorer glycemic control greater
