The microbiota–gut–brain axis plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of major depressive disorder (MDD) and related subclinical symptoms. However, studies on gut microbiota MDD are inconsistent, data MDD's effects sleep lacking. This study aimed to analyze composition quality patients with MDD. We performed 16S rRNA sequencing stool samples from 36 45 healthy controls (HC). Sleep was assessed using Pittsburgh Quality Index, severity Hamilton Depression Scale, insomnia Insomnia Severity Index. Forty-eight targets showed significant differences between HC. In MDD, six were associated depression, 11 quality, 3 severity. At genus level, Dorea simultaneously depression while Intestinibacter more closely problems. Coprococcus independent depression. conclusion, present findings enable better understanding relationship MDD-related Gut alterations may become potential biomarkers and/or treatment for

As individuals age, the prevalence of neurocognitive and mental health disorders increases. Current biomedical treatments do not completely address management these conditions. Despite new pharmacological therapy challenges managing diseases remain. There is increasing evidence that Gut Microbiome (GM) microbial dysbiosis contribute to some more prevalent disorders, such as depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress (PTSD), schizophrenia, bipolar (BP), dementia well behavioural psychological symptoms (BPSD) through microbiota-gut-brain axis.

Treatment of depression is hampered by the failure to identify distinct symptom profiles with pathophysiologies that differentially respond treatments. We posit inflammatory a meaningful subtype associated specific symptoms and biological abnormalities. review several upstream, potentially causative, mechanisms driving low-grade inflammation in this depression. also discuss downstream mediating link between depression, including alterations dopaminergic neurotransmission tryptophan metabolism. Finally, we evidence for non-pharmacological interventions probiotics, omega-3 fatty acids, physical exercise interventions. While some suggests these may be efficacious future clinical trials should consider enriching patient populations markers, or stratify patients status, confirm refute hypothesis.

Bupleuri Radix (BR) is the dry root of Bupleurum chinense DC. and scorzonerifolium Willd. It has functions evacuation antipyretic, soothing liver relieving depression often used to treat cold fever, chest rib swelling pain, irregular menstruation, uterine prolapse, rectocele other diseases. In this paper, botany, traditional application, phytochemistry, pharmacology toxicity BR were reviewed. On basis limited literature, analytical method, quality control, processing effect pharmacokinetics summarized analyzed for first time. This review makes an in-depth discussion on shortcomings current research BR, puts forward its own views solutions. never been in previous BR. great practical significance future scholars find a breakthrough point study So far, mechanism not satisfactorily explained. Moreover, comprehensive evaluation multi-target network need be further studied. future, more vitro vivo experiments are needed give full play therapeutic potential

Atypical antipsychotics, also known as second-generation are commonly prescribed treatment for psychotic disorders in adults, well children and adolescents with behavioral problems. However, many cases, antipsychotics have unwanted side effects, such weight gain, potentially further increasing risk morbidities including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease. While various mechanisms this gain been proposed, effects on metabolic hormone signaling, recent evidence points to the importance of gut microbiome process. The microbial communities residing within affected by can confer gain. This review summarizes findings presents data linking microbiota alterations focuses adolescent populations, which not previously received much attention, but great interest because they may be most vulnerable changes carry long-term into adulthood. We present correlations between suggest some that link them. A better understanding underlying lead design improved treatments fewer harmful effects.
