Transferrin Receptor 2 (TfR2) is a homolog of 1 (TfR1), involved in regulating intra and extracellular iron levels. Altered pathways have been associated with cancer onset progression; however, their role canine tumors remains poorly explored. This study investigated TfR2 immunohistochemical expression non-neoplastic testis for the first time most common types testicular tumors: intratubular seminomas (ITSEMs), diffuse (DSEMs), Leydig cell (LCTs), Sertoli (SCTs). Immunohistochemical analysis revealed differential pattern according to tumor type, high observed ITSEMs DSEMs, occasional LCTs, absence SCTs. These results suggest that may play relevant seminoma development. Furthermore, specific highlights its potential as therapeutic target, where regulation possible compensatory mechanisms warrant further investigation.

Abstract Lactoferrin (Lf) is a glycoprotein belonging to the transferrin family, which can be found in mammalian milk. It was first isolated from bovine milk 1930s, and later 1960s, it determined human This multifunctional protein has specific ability bind iron. plays various biological roles, such as antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, anti-tumour, anti-obesity, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory immunomodulatory activities. There are several studies describing its use against cancer cell lines (e.g., liver, lung breast) even been reported inhibit development of experimental metastases mice. Previous also suggest Lf-mediated neuroprotection age-related neurodegenerative diseases expected attenuate aging. More recently, Lf proposed potential approach COVID-19 prophylaxis. In this review, we discuss recent developments about activities pleiotropic that will reason exploitation biomedical supplementary nutritional value.

Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation (NBIA) is a group of neurodegenerative diseases that are typically caused by monogenetic mutation, leading to development disordered movement symptoms such as dystonia, hyperreflexia, etc. Brain can be diagnosed through MRI imaging and hypothesized the cause oxidative stress, degeneration tissue. There four main types NBIA: pantothenate kinase-associated neurodegeneration (PKAN), PLA2G6-associated (PLAN), mitochondrial membrane protein-associated (MKAN), beta-propeller (BPAN). no causative therapies for these diseases, but chelators have been shown potential toward treating NBIA. Three investigated in this Review: deferoxamine (DFO), desferasirox (DFS), deferiprone (DFP). DFO has treat Alzheimer's disease (AD) Parkinson's (PD); however, dose-related toxicity studies, well PKAN drug still requires more before it applied NBIA cases. Iron chelation other than ones currently clinical use not yet reached they may possess characteristics would allow them access ways current cannot. Intranasal formulations an attractive dosage form study therapy, method delivery bypass blood-brain barrier CNS. Gene therapy differs from causal treatment disease, whereas only target progression Because pathophysiology unclear, future courses action should focused on treatment; best course action.

Solid tumors have a unique tumor microenvironment (TME), which includes hypoxia, low acidity, and high hydrogen peroxide glutathione (GSH) levels, among others. These factors, offer favourable microenvironments nourishment for development spread, also serve as gateway specific successful cancer therapies. A good example is metal structures been synthesized utilized to enhance oxygen supply they shown great promise in the alleviation of hypoxia. In hypoxic environment, certain oxygen‐dependent treatments such photodynamic therapy radiotherapy fail respond therefore modulating has found antitumor impact drugs. Under acidic environments, produced by reaction peroxides with water not only induces oxidative stress but produces additional oxygen. This achieved since acts reactive substrate molecules catalyse enzymes, alleviating hypoxia observed microenvironment. Metal ions released process can distinct bioactivity their own right. used anticancer are rapidly evolving field, there evidence that option regulating therapy. this regard, synthesis mechanisms behind application specifically target highlighted review. Advancements in modern medicine have improved the quality of life across globe and increased average lifespan our population by multiple decades. Current estimates predict 2030, 12% global will reach a geriatric age live another 3-4 This swelling place critical stress on healthcare infrastructures due to accompanying increases age-related diseases comorbidities. While much research focused long-lived individuals seeks answer questions regarding how healthier, there is deficit investigating what aspects lives accelerate or exacerbate aging. In particular, heavy metals are recognized as significant threat human health with links plethora diseases, widespread exposures from occupational, medical, environmental settings. We believe ought be classified class gerontogens (i.e., chemicals that biological aging cells tissues). Gerontogens may best studied through their effects "Hallmarks Aging", nine physiological hallmarks demonstrated occur aged cells, tissues, bodies. Evidence suggests cellular senescence-a permanent growth arrest cells-is one most pertinent useful indicator tissues. Here, we discuss roles brain briefly general, then expand upon observations for contributing neurodegenerative disorders. particularly emphasize senescence diseases. Finally, inducing senescence. The glaring lack knowledge about gerontogenic mechanisms necessitates greater field, especially context crisis.
