Even before considering their introduction into the mouth, choice of materials for optimization prosthesis depends on specific parameters such as biocompatibility, solidity, resistance, and longevity. In first part this two-part review, we approach various mechanical characteristics that affect choice, which are closely related to manufacturing process. Among currently available, it is mainly polymers suitable use in field. Historically, most widely used polymer has been polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), but more recently, polyamides (nylon) polyether ether ketone (PEEK) have provided interesting advantages. Although additive manufacturing has been widely applied for occlusal splint (OS) fabrication, it is still unclear whether 3D printing system and post-curing atmosphere would play a role in the wear resistance of additive-manufactured OS. Therefore, aim this study was to evaluate effect (liquid crystal display (LCD) digital light processing (DLP)) (air nitrogen gas (N2)) on hard soft OS materials OSs (KeySplint® Hard Soft). The evaluated properties were microwear (by two-body test) nano-wear resistances nanoindentation as well flexural strength modulus three-point bending test), surface microhardness Vickers hardness nanoscale elastic (reduced modulus) nano test). The evidence on the effect of printing orientation dimensional accuracy and properties resinous dental models is unclear. This systematic review aimed to assess impact additively manufactured models, besides cost, material consumption, time efficiency at different orientations. A comprehensive web search (PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane) was performed in July 2024 without language restrictions. included studies were assessed using modified consort statement for laboratory materials. outcomes surface quality, cost printed directions. Following PRISMA guidelines, 14 records included. Most favored horizontally with minor controversies regarding accuracy, time, efficiency. While can influence it often more significantly affected by factors such as technology used, properties, layer thickness. Horizontal has proven be most efficient producing particularly single-model manufacturing, due its superior savings. However, large-scale overnight massive production favors vertical since platform accommodates twice triple models' numbers horizontal orientation. majority favor accuracy. Choosing optimal additive manufacturing not only ensures precision improving fit restorations prostheses, but also leads significant reductions usage, energy ultimately minimizing environmental impact.
