The implementation of home-based learning for secondary school students faces challenges such as weakened supervision, a lack prior online experience, and low self-regulated (SRL) skills. To address this, we propose an mechanism to help teachers develop students’ SRL skills in environments. After three iterations design, implementation, evaluation, following the educational-design research approach, proposed was empirically validated refined. results confirmed feasibility effectiveness framework, one which integrates strategies goal setting planning, self-monitoring, self-evaluation. We also demonstrated that designed mechanism, comprises four components sequence, resource, activity, incentive, helped master improve nonacademic performance. Lastly, identified seven design principles can guide educators adoption similar practices skills, particularly future flexible smart scenarios. These emphasize motivational, sequential, social, instrumental aspects instructional call parental involvement mindset during implementation. paper ends with discussion several limitations regarding sample representativeness data diversity should be noted when interpreting study results.
