Abstract Post-COVID syndrome (PCS) describes a persistent complex of symptoms following COVID-19 episode, lasting at least 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the specific criteria used for its definition. It is often associated with moderate severe impairments daily life and represents major burden many people worldwide. However, especially during first two years pandemic, therapeutic diagnostic uncertainties were prominent due novelty disease non-specific definitions that overlooked functional deficits lacked objective assessment. The present work comprehensively examines status PCS as depicted in recent reviews meta-analyses, alongside exploring impairments. We searched database Pubmed meta-analysis evaluating period between May 31, 2022, December 2023. Out 95 studies, 33 selected inclusion our analyses. Furthermore, we extended upon prior research by systematically recording linked identified studies. found fatigue, neurological complaints, exercise intolerance most frequently reported symptoms. In conclusion, over past eighteen months, there has been notable increase quantity quality studies PCS. still remains clear need improvement, particularly regard definition necessary diagnosing this syndrome. Enhancing aspect will render future more comparable precise, thereby advancing understanding

Inhaled dry powder formulations of antiviral agents represent a novel and potentially transformative approach to managing respiratory viral infections. Traditional therapies in the form tablets or capsules often face limitations terms therapeutic activity, systemic side effects, delayed onset action. Dry inhalers (DPIs) provide targeted delivery system, ensuring direct administration antivirals infection site, tract, which enhance efficacy minimize exposure. This review explores current state inhaled agents, their advantages over traditional routes, specific under development. We discuss benefits delivery, such as improved drug deposition lungs reduced alongside considerations related formulation preparation. In addition, we summarize developed (published marketed) powders agents.

Background/Objectives: The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic was associated with an intense impact on health worldwide. Among the sequelae, it became necessary to clarify respiratory impairment related lung function and aerobic capacity, as well treatment of curative preventive measures pulmonary involvement. In this context, study aimed compare vital signs, sensation dyspnea (Borg scale), function, exercise tolerance before after use non-invasive mechanical ventilation (NIV) in adults both sexes acute infection severe syndrome 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Methods: A cross-sectional analytical clinical performed inclusion individuals who had been diagnosed COVID-19 at least three months data collection. Individuals were evaluated for signs (heart rate peripheral oxygen saturation), Borg scale, spirometry, submaximal protocol two minutes step test receiving NIV mode by continuous positive airway pressure 6 cm H2O 30 min. Results: total 50 participants enrolled grouped a mild (N = 25) or phenotype during SARS-CoV-2 according criteria World Health Organization. our data, forced capacity (p < 0.001), ratio between expiratory volume first one second 0.020), two-minute (number steps—p 0.001) showed statistical improvement group NIV. addition, 0.032) No changes described scale. Conclusions: This allowed us identify that is tool promotes better increasing number steps achieved groups improving observed spirometry markers.

Abstract A subset of patients with post-COVID-19 condition (PCC) fulfill the clinical criteria myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). To establish diagnosis ME/CFS for and research purposes, comprehensive scores have to be evaluated. We developed Munich Berlin Symptom Questionnaires (MBSQs) supplementary scoring sheets (SSSs) allow a rapid evaluation common case definitions. The MBSQs were applied young chronic post-exertional malaise (PEM) who presented MRI Chronic Fatigue Center Young People (MCFC). Trials retrospectively registered (NCT05778006, NCT05638724). Using SSSs, we report on ten aged 11 25 years diagnosed after asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection or mild moderate COVID-19. Results from their well-established patient-reported outcome measures indicated severe impairments daily activities health-related quality life. Conclusions: can follow in younger than 18 years, rendering structured diagnostic approaches most relevant pediatric PCC clinics. SSSs represent novel tools that facilitate children, adolescents, adults other post-infection post-vaccination syndromes. What is Known: • debilitating disease increasing prevalence due For diagnosis, differential workup required, including criteria. COVID-19 has been reported but not 19 years. New: present as assess definitions adult beyond. MBSQs,

Abstract Objectives Numerous cases of long coronavirus disease (long COVID) have been reported in patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (ARDs). Despite the reviews on clinical manifestations COVID general population, systematic ARD are scarce. Herein, we conducted a review and meta-analysis prevalence characteristics patients. Methods We searched literature PubMed Embase as 27 December 2022. Cohort, cross-sectional case–control studies relevant to were collected. Stratification based severity infection subtypes [systemic (SARD) vs non-autoimmune (NARD)] was also undertaken. A random-effects model used meta-analysis. Results total 15 identified from literature. The 56% (95% CI 34, 76) 2995 Hospitalized had higher proportion than non-hospitalized similar between SARD NARD In terms symptoms, fatigue, arthralgia pain commonly ARDs. Conclusion generally those population despite pain.

The aim of this study was to identify the association between four selected inflammatory polymorphisms with development long-term post-COVID symptoms in subjects who had been hospitalized due SARS-CoV-2 infection during first wave pandemic. These were as they are associated severe COVID-19 disease and cytokine storm, so could be important prognoses post-COVID. A total 408 (48.5% female, age: 58.5 ± 14.0 years) previously survivors participated. three potential genotypes following single-nucleotide polymorphisms, IL-6 rs1800796, IL-10 rs1800896, TNF-α rs1800629, IFITM3 rs12252, obtained from non-stimulated saliva samples participants. participants asked self-report presence any (defined that started no later than one month after acute infection) whether persisted at time study. At (mean: 15.6, SD: 5.6 months discharge), 89.4% patients reported least symptom (mean number symptoms: 3.0; 1.7). Fatigue (69.3%), pain (40.9%), memory loss (27.2%) most prevalent sample. Overall, differences depending on rs12252 seen. SNPs assessed, albeit having inflammation severity, did not cause a predisposition survivors.

Interest in post-coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) syndrome following COVID-19 infection has been increasing. Maintaining quality of life (QoL) is vital for airline crews because they work a special environment, where are responsible the passengers' safety. This study aims to closely investigate factors affecting QoL crews, including post-COVID-19 syndrome.
