Abstract This paper examines the relationship between shame, stigma and accent for non‐native English speakers in Spain. The low competence of Spanish population frequently constitutes a source individual collective – which includes apparent undesirability Spanish‐sounding English. In this article, we propose an aesthetic and plurilingual/pluriliteracies approach to additional (or second, foreign…) language teaching learning. The research reported on took place in a secondary school Barcelona where young people take the role of teachers host languages (i.e., Catalan Spanish) adult migrants. We focus plurilingual poetry workshop offered program as empirical foundation for proposed approach. This article analyzes interaction taking place in an after-school digital storytelling project, involving a group of teenagers Catalonia, Spain, with different lingua-cultural backgrounds. It focuses on intercultural mediation activities carried out one the early project sessions which young girl Ghanaian origin mobilizes her previous life experience to mediate, for local peers understanding video produced by Ugandan youth. The data is transcribed and analyzed using multimodal conversation analytic perspective. Drawing theoretical concepts mediation, cosmopolitanism, funds knowledge, this investigates following: (a) how knowledge mediate content other audience members and, (b) cosmopolitanism developed mediation. also touches collaboratively constructed across modes, languages, material objects. findings indicate that participants’ cosmopolitan stances are enacted enabled as youngsters can make sense cultural they not tackle well their own. further help reconceptualize competences, resources youth superdiverse interconnected world.
