Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate how educators perceive and adapt their roles in the face changes technology-driven learning environments. University leaders play crucial roles in steering and fostering change within higher education institutions (HEIs). Drawing upon the complexity leadership theory (CLT) organizational trust, we investigate how university trusting staff with responsibilities tied to digital contributed an institutional culture of innovation. Through 68 interviews members working 8 European study programs, found that exhibited trust by creating flat hierarchies, sharing decision-making, ensuring a safe space for experimentation educational technologies (EdTech). This led being intrinsically motivated engage technology innovate new formats. Synchronous Online Learning (SOL) environments have rapidly transformed the educational landscape. However, there is limited research on their efficacy in equipping students with necessary skills to succeed workforce, particularly developing essential professional like digital literacy, interpersonal communication, and practical experience. This study explores how SOL impacts students’ readiness for workforce development of these critical skills. The employed a qualitative methodology involving in-depth interviews 27 third- fourth-year from South African university. Purposive sampling was used capture diverse experiences regarding its influence skill development. Thematic analysis performed identify patterns insights interviews. Findings reveal that effectively enhance technical adaptability, navigating workforce. inadequate providing practical, hands-on experiences. Students reported lack networking opportunities expressed concerns about preparedness demands real-world employment, fields requiring strong highlights need innovations combine benefits learning comprehensive strategies, soft experiential learning.
