Abstract The minimum requirements in maritime education and training (MET) are set by the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW). First established 1978, STCW convention standardized educational procedures seafarers. Since then, it has become most influential regulatory document education. code had major revisions 1995 2010. These amendments were response to recognized need bring up date. However, been over a decade since latest came into force, past decade, new technologies digital methods have developed significantly. The continuing crisis caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has raised significant challenges for higher education community globally. In South Africa, government-forced lockdown measures and social distancing containment policy changed working arrangements across sectors organisations. As a result, academics were forced to work from home (WFH), task which they hardly prepared. Several researchers have engaged WFH situation of understand relationship between productivity. far as we know, very few studies tried describe academics’ experiences in relation challenges, including determining possible ways improving their satisfaction with home. We examine this article selected universities Africa. Using qualitative approach applying Atlas.ti data analysis, our findings show that academia is daunting requiring extensive organisational, personal, adjustments. population comprised all irrespective any demographic or personality characteristic within management faculty participating secure anonymity respondents. Five themes—inability adapt, lack office, loneliness isolation, inability balance family work, home—were identified variables participants’ responses. Abstract The COVID-19 pandemic caused a rapid seismic shift to online delivery in otherwise face-to-face higher education settings worldwide. This quantitative research study sought investigate the effect of different styles and assessment types on student outcomes. Specifically, grades achieved by first year undergraduate Biological Science students at UK Higher Education institution were compared from seven modules across two academic years, namely 2018–2019 2020–2021. was delivered traditional manner whereas 2020–2021 method via blended learning. results showed that four negatively affected transition (p < 0.05, T-test). One module unaffected > T-test) remaining positively However, percentage requiring reassessments increased with learning although this not significant In summary, majority individual marks decreased delivery, an associated increase required reassessments. <p style="text-align:justify">Education systems worldwide have been significantly disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, creating an immediate need for a revamp of conventional teaching and learning techniques. To explore how this has affected educational landscape, scoping review was conducted. This aimed examine changes that occurred in education field it transformed landscape review. Using Arksey O'Malley's methodology, 51 articles were selected analysis from two leading databases: Scopus Web Science. All chosen then subjected thematic analysis. Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased rates of depression, anxiety, and stress symptoms. University students have been particularly affected by these psychological consequences due the its accompanying precautions. Purpose: This study aimed assess prevalence predictors symptoms among Jordanian university amid pandemic. Methods: is a cross-sectional study. Data was collected through an anonymous online survey from during period February 2022 May 2022. included self-reported questionnaire that composed sociodemographic variables Arabic version Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-21). Results: mean total scores for were 18.91, 18.04, 20.71, respectively, indicating presence issues Psychological problems, parents being diagnosed with mental illness, living arrangements, academic year explained 25.6% variation in depression Academic year, specialization, GPA, gender accounted 25.9% anxiety Parents marital status, GPA 22.3% Conclusion: findings this significant implications healthcare practice, policy development, community engagement. This article reviews the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on key elements transnational higher education (TNHE) in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
