Abstract
The
minimum
requirements
in
maritime
education
and
training
(MET)
are
set
by
the
International
Convention
on
Standards
of
Training,
Certification
Watchkeeping
for
Seafarers
(STCW).
First
established
1978,
STCW
convention
standardized
educational
procedures
seafarers.
Since
then,
it
has
become
most
influential
regulatory
document
education.
code
had
major
revisions
1995
2010.
These
amendments
were
response
to
recognized
need
bring
up
date.
However,
been
over
a
decade
since
latest
came
into
force,
past
decade,
new
technologies
digital
methods
have
developed
significantly.
Not
only
that,
but
used
onboard
ships
also
advanced
considerably.
Today,
digitalization
fourth
industrial
revolution
rapidly
reshaping
industry,
as
well
issues
coupled
with
disruption
caused
Covid
pandemic
increased
more
tools
MET.
Concerns
rising
regarding
comprehensive
rules
that
will
better
reflect
today's
needs
progress
literature.

paper

toward
addressing

The
continuing
crisis
caused
by
the
novel
coronavirus
(COVID-19)
outbreak
has
raised
significant
challenges
for
higher
education
community
globally.
In
South
Africa,
government-forced
lockdown
measures
and
social
distancing
containment

arrangements

sectors

a
result,
academics
were
forced
to
work
from
home
(WFH),
task
which
they
hardly
prepared.

researchers
have
engaged
WFH

Abstract
The
COVID-19
pandemic
caused
a
rapid
seismic
shift
to
online
delivery
in
otherwise
face-to-face
higher
education
settings
worldwide.
This
quantitative
research
study
sought
investigate
the
effect
of
different
styles
and
assessment
types
on
student
outcomes.
Specifically,
grades
achieved
by
first
year
undergraduate
Biological
Science
students
at
UK
Higher
Education
institution
were
compared
from
seven
modules
across
two
academic
years,
namely
2018–2019
2020–2021.

delivered
traditional

whereas
2020–2021

blended
learning.

Background:

COVID-19

article
reviews
the
impact
of
COVID-19
pandemic

higher

(TNHE)
