Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, e-learning at Maritime Higher Education Institutions (hereinafter: MET HEI) was almost not present all, especially STCW courses. This mixed-method research aimed to assess student readiness on the use of blended learning modalities at Philippine Merchant Marine Academy. It examined level towards self-directed learning, online engagement, and satisfaction among midshipmen effectiveness these lesson delivery blends. 1CL, 3CL, 4CL officially enrolled in 1st Semester School Year 2022-2023 were surveyed establish their demographic profile, terms engagement readiness, satisfaction. A semi-formal interview asked faculty about preferred blend or combination modalities. The SPSS was utilized analyze results. When grouped according year level, Midshipmen demonstrated lower Self-Directed Learning Readiness Online Student Engagement than senior cadets. program, BS Transportation more satisfied Engineering midshipmen. ABSTRACT The COVID-19 pandemic has forced Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), Teachers and students to move into Online Distance Learning in the Philippines continue providing quality education. study centers on two factors Challenges Coping Strategies of Maritime Instructors Students an (ODL) Environment Dr. Carlos S. Lanting College. A total 157 respondents were involved distribution questionnaires was done thru online. descriptive quantitative method research is used this study. As a result both teachers smartphones laptop but majority have postpaid subscription service (42.38%) with unstable slow internet connectivity. Furthermore, Environment, generally answered “rarely” given statements as academic requirements(M=2.08 M=2.33), Management System (M=1.96 M=2.30), delivery instructions (M=2.17 2.39) while data from learning environment (M=2.78 M=2.73) interpreted "sometimes," inferring that perceived biggest challenge out four. coping strategies ODL "sometimes" scenarios instructors "often." Ports experienced increasing complexity over the past decades, both in terms of legal issues and usage technology. The covid-19 pandemic rose demand for distance education as traditional classrooms are declining due to cost- hygiene aspects. Online contains a valuable basis staff applied industrial settings, where safety security (SaS) has proven necessary but challenging conduct. Studies have already revealed that existing SaS regulations consist vague confusing suggestions often lack applicable trainings, leading port operators conduct best practice minimum compliance approaches.
