In the context of global pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), more than 700 million infections and millions deaths have occurred in countries around world. Currently, two main sequelae this are considered to occur children, namely, multi-system inflammatory syndrome children long COVID. Among these two, incidence COVID is higher its impact on population extensive, which focus us. However, due lack relevant studies limitations most studies, COVID-19 infection lag behind those adults, but they begun attract attention some clinicians researchers. We aim summarize current knowledge helping pediatricians researchers better understand providing guidance research clinical treatment it.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused by SARS-CoV-2 has been defined as the greatest global health and socioeconomic crisis of modern times. While most people recover after being infected with virus, a significant proportion them continue to experience issues weeks, months even years acute infection SARS-CoV-2. This persistence clinical symptoms in individuals for at least three onset or emergence new lasting more than two months, without any other explanation alternative diagnosis have named long COVID, long-haul post-COVID-19 conditions, chronic post-acute sequelae (PASC). Long COVID characterized constellation disorders that vary widely their manifestations. Further, mechanisms underlying are not fully understood, which hamper efficient treatment options. review describes predictors common related COVID's effects on central peripheral nervous system organs tissues. Furthermore, transcriptional markers, molecular signaling pathways risk factors such sex, age, pre-existing condition, hospitalization during phase COVID-19, vaccination, lifestyle presented. Finally, recommendations patient rehabilitation management, well therapeutical approaches discussed. Understanding complexity this disease, its across multiple organ systems overlapping pathologies possible paramount developing diagnostic tools treatments.

More than two years after the onset of COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare providers are facing an emergency within emergency, so-called long COVID or post-COVID-19 syndrome (PCS). Patients diagnosed with PCS develop extended range persistent symptoms and/or complications from COVID-19. The risk factors and clinical manifestations many various. Advanced age, sex/gender, pre-existing conditions certainly influence pathogenesis course this syndrome. However, absence precise diagnostic prognostic biomarkers may further complicate management patients. This review aimed to summarize recent evidence on influencing PCS, possible biomarkers, therapeutic approaches. Older patients recovered approximately one month earlier younger patients, higher rates symptoms. Fatigue during acute phase appears be important factor for symptom persistence. Female sex, older active smoking associated a developing PCS. incidence cognitive decline death in controls. Complementary alternative medicine improvement symptoms, particularly fatigue. heterogeneous nature post-COVID complexity who often polytreated due concomitant conditions, suggest holistic integrated approach provide useful guidance treatment overall COVID.

COVID-19, an infectious respiratory illness, is caused by infection with the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Individuals underlying medical conditions are at increased risk of developing serious illnesses such as long COVID. Recent studies have observed Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) reactivation in patients severe illness or COVID, which may contribute to associated symptoms. We determined frequency EBV COVID-19 positive compared negative patients. 106 blood plasma samples were collected from and was detection DNA antibodies against lytic genes individuals previous infection. 27.1% (13/48) reactivations, based on qPCR genomes, COVID group while only 12.5% (6/48) reactivations belonged group. 20/52 (42.30%) PCR had detectable nucleoprotein (Np); indicative past A significantly higher Np protein level found In conclusion, experienced comparison

Long COVID is characterized by persistent signs and symptoms that continue or develop for more than 4 weeks after acute COVID-19 infection. Patients with experience a cardiovascular autonomic imbalance known as dysautonomia. However, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms behind this remain unclear. Current hypotheses include neurotropism, cytokine storms, inflammatory persistence. Certain immunological factors indicate autoimmune dysfunction, which can be used to identify patients at higher risk of COVID. Heart rate variability imbalances in individuals suffering from COVID, measurement non-invasive low-cost method assessing modulation. Additionally, biochemical markers are diagnosing monitoring These improve understanding driving response its effects on sympathetic parasympathetic pathways nervous system. Autonomic may result lower heart variability, impaired vagal activity, substantial sympathovagal imbalance. New research subject must encouraged enhance long-term risks cause

Introduction: The impact of long-COVID-19 syndrome is rather variable, since it influenced by several residual confounders. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence long COVID-19 in healthcare workers (HCWs) from four university hospitals north-eastern Italy: Trieste, Padua, Verona, and Modena-Reggio Emilia. Methods: During period June 2022-August 2022, HCWs were surveyed for past infections, medical history, any acute as well post-COVID-19 symptoms. was estimated at 30-60 days or 61+ first negative swab following second episode. Furthermore, risk investigated multivariable logistic regression. Results expressed adjusted odds ratio (aOR) with a 95% confidence interval (95%CI). Results: 5432 returned usable questionnaire: 2401 infected SARS-CoV-2 least once, 230 twice, 8 three times. after primary infection 24.0% versus 16.3% days, 10.5% against 5.5% event. most frequent symptoms event asthenia (30.3%), followed myalgia (13.7%), cough (12.4%), dyspnea (10.2%), concentration deficit (8.1%), headache (7.3%), anosmia (6.5%), decreasing order prevalence. significantly higher hospitalized (aOR = 3.34; 95%CI: 1.62; 6.89), those during early pandemic waves-namely Wuhan 2.16; 1.14; 4.09) Alpha (aOR= 2.05; 1.25; 3.38) transmission periods-and progressively increasing viral shedding time (VST), especially 15+ 3.20; 2.07; 4.94). The majority of people who contract COVID-19 experience a short period symptomatic infection. However, symptoms persist for months or years following initial exposure to the virus in some cases. This has been described as long COVID. Little is known about lived this condition, it only recently emerged. study aimed explore experiences mental health, quality life, and coping among living with A sample 47 adults participated web-based focus groups. Separate groups were held 24 individuals pre-existing health conditions 23 without conditions. Data analyzed using codebook thematic analysis approach. Five themes identified integral COVID experience: Emotional Landscape Long COVID, New Limits Daily Functioning, Grief Loss Former Identity, COVID-related Stigmatization, Learning Cope Persisting Symptoms. These findings illustrate immense impact on life. Minimal differences found between those conditions, both substantially impacted by condition. Attention perspectives necessary inform future directions research clinical practice.

The virus called SARS-CoV-2 emerged in 2019 and quickly spread worldwide, causing COVID-19. It has greatly impacted on everyday life, healthcare systems, the global economy. In order to save as many lives possible, precautions such social distancing, quarantine, testing policies were implemented, effective vaccines developed. A growing amount of data collected worldwide allowed characterization this new disease, which turned out be more complex than other common respiratory tract infections. An increasing number convalescents presented with a variety non-specific symptoms emerging after acute infection. This possible health problem was identified labelled long COVID. Since then, great effort been made by clinicians scientific community understand underlying mechanisms develop preventive measures treatment. role autoimmunity induced infection development COVID is discussed review. We aim deliver description several conditions an autoimmune background observed COVID-19 convalescents, including Guillain-Barré syndrome, antiphospholipid syndrome related thrombosis, Kawasaki disease highlighting relationship between autoimmunity. However, further studies are required determine its true clinical significance.
