In Drosophila, a dedicated olfactory channel senses male pheromone, cis-vaccenyl acetate (cVA), promoting female courtship while repelling males. Female Aedes aegypti mosquitoes are deadly vectors of arboviral pathogens and breed in containers freshwater associated with human habitation.
