The mental health burden among adolescents has been increasing, impacting individuals even before formal diagnosis of common disorders. Although personality traits, as key indicators conditions, play a crucial role in the development disorders, there is gap regarding trait-to-symptom pathways and similarities differences between young adults. A total 860 1751 adults participated this study. Chinese Big Five Personality Inventory assessed while depression anxiety symptoms were measured using Patient Health Questionnaire-9 Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7, respectively. Network analysis computed bridging centrality traits elucidated pathways. Furthermore, network comparison was applied to compare structure In both age groups, neuroticism exhibited transdiagnostic activating effect on anxiety. Conscientiousness demonstrated strongest protective against depression, whereas agreeableness most samples, primarily influenced associated with negative emotions thoughts. Comparatively, extraversion significant increasing throughout adolescence, increasingly activated symptoms. This study highlights potential utilize for early detection precise intervention adolescent populations, providing actionable insights. By identifying level neuroticism, we can effectively detect high-risk prior diagnosis. delineating neuroticism-to-symptom pathways, implement targeted their pathological interactions.

Early life adversity (ELA) has substantial, lifelong impacts on mental and physical health development. Data from the ABCD® Study will provide essential insights into these effects. Because study lacks a unified assessment, our objective was to use critical, human-driven approach identify variables that fit ELA domains measured in this study. We clarify best practices measurement of ABCD through creation scores based well-established Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) questionnaire another inclusive broader ELA. Variables previously used measure dataset were determined via literature review. assessed each variable its utility measuring at baseline follow-up time points by individual completing assessment (i.e., youth or caregiver). selected align with decades measurement, therefore, can be research teams as measures The review critical analysis items led development three ELA: an ACES-proxy score, youth-reported ACEs-proxy score (ELA+). code using R calculate their constituent for future adversity-related research. is one largest longitudinal studies development, data available secondary analysis. Our existing coding schema allow examination dataset, informing understanding risk, resilience, prevention.
