ABSTRACT
Objective:
To
characterize
the
perceptions
and
feelings
of
parents
diagnosed
with
cancer
in
relation
to
communication
their
children
between

rising
costs
of
cancer
care
and
subsequent
medical
financial
hardship
for
survivors
families
are
well
documented
in
the
United
States.
Less
attention
has
been
paid
to
employment
disruptions
loss
household
income
after
a
diagnosis
during
treatment,
potentially
resulting
lasting
hardship,
particularly
working-age
adults
not
yet
age-eligible

Abstract
Background
Cancer
survivors
may
face
challenges
affording
food,
housing,
and
other
living
necessities,
which
are
known
as
health‐related
social
needs
(HRSNs).
However,
little
is
about
the
associations
of
HRSNs
mortality
risk
among
adult
cancer
survivors.
Methods
Adult
were
identified
from
2013–2018
National
Health
Interview
Survey
(NHIS)
linked
with
NHIS
Mortality
File
vital
status
through
December
31,
2019.
HRSNs,
measured
by
food
insecurity,
nonmedical
financial
worries
(e.g.,
housing
costs),
was
categorized
severe,
moderate,
minor/none.

Background:
Approximately
27%
of
female
breast
cancer
patients
are
diagnosed
before
the
age
55,

group
often
comprising
mothers
with
young
children.
Maternal
psychosocial
well-being

early-onset
