ABSTRACT Previous research has shown that simulated interviews with avatars can improve question quality, but evidence regarding long‐term effects and the role of experience remains limited. We investigated both short‐ impacts avatar training feedback in Child Protection Services (CPS) worker student groups. Thirty‐one CPS workers 35 novice students interviewed four child avatars, half receiving after each interview. After 4 months, was repeated all participants feedback. Training improved investigative interview quality short term, no substantial decline months. Experience had on nor did it moderate impact. These findings suggest avatar‐based could effectively interviewing skills across different levels, maintaining its over a 4‐month period.
