The use of cellulose for various value-added chemicals is a promising alternative to fossil resources reduce their dependence and depletion. selective conversion 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (5-HMF) an attractive depolymerization route with great application, which often meets the hindrance tough structure, inert activity, big barriers in mass transfer. To achieve high efficiency green cellulose, heterogeneous Pickering interfacial catalysts (PICs) containing polyoxometalates (POMs) had been designed through loading H5PMo10V2O40 (HPMoV) on organic-decorated silica SiO2(Rn/R5'NH2, m: 1) (Rn represents CnH2n+1, n = 6, 8, 10; R5'NH2 C5H10(NH)NH2; 1 means ratio between Rn R5'NH2) nanoparticles. versatile catalyst HPMoV(25)/SiO2(R8/R5'NH2, 1:1) could catalyze into 5-HMF 96.4% at 150 °C 5 h turnover frequency increasing 1.52 times higher than homogeneous HPMoV. enhancement catalytic performance be attributed several factors: flexible surface 1:1), stabilized water-in-oil (w/o) emulsion facilitated H2O/MIBK interface (MIBK methyl isobutyl ketone); HPMoV can adsorb concentrated, while reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by redox sites assisted Brønsted (B) acidic accelerating hydrolysis; simultaneously, microball milling effect produced rough SiO2 nanoparticles, further enabled rapid conversion. excellent provided useful strategy construct PICs practical application chemical transformation biorefinery, especially overcoming solid–solid
