Gliomas are typical malignant brain tumours affecting a wide population worldwide. Operation, as the common treatment for gliomas, is always accompanied by postoperative drug chemotherapy, but cannot cure patients. The main challenges chemotherapeutic drugs have low blood-brain barrier passage rate and lot of serious adverse effects, meanwhile, they difficulty targeting glioma issues. Nowadays, emergence nanoparticles (NPs) delivery systems (NDDS) has provided new promising approach gliomas owing to their excellent biodegradability, high stability, good biocompatibility, toxicity, minimal effects. Herein, we reviewed types mechanisms NPs currently used in including passive active delivery. In particular, primarily focused on various hopeful (such liposome, chitosan, ferritin, graphene oxide, silica nanoparticle, nanogel, neutrophil, adeno-associated virus), discussed advantages, disadvantages, progress preclinical trials. Moreover, outlined clinical trials applied gliomas. According this review, provide an outlook prospects NDDS treating summarise some methods that can enhance specificity safety NPs, like surface modification conjugating ligands peptides.
