Abstract Power-conversion-efficiencies (PCEs) of organic solar cells (OSCs) in laboratory, normally processed by spin-coating technology with toxic halogenated solvents, have reached over 19%. However, there is usually a marked PCE drop when the blade-coating and/or green-solvents toward large-scale printing are used instead, which hampers practical development OSCs. Here, new series N -alkyl-tailored small molecule acceptors named YR-SeNF same molecular main backbone developed combining selenium-fused central-core and naphthalene-fused end-group. Thanks to -alkyl engineering, NIR-absorbing show different crystallinity, packing patterns, miscibility polymeric donor. The studies exhibit that packing, vertical distribution active layer morphologies well optimized introducing newly designed guest acceptor associated tailored chains, providing improved charge transfer dynamics stability for PM6:L8-BO:YR-SeNF-based As result, record-high approaching 19% achieved OSCs fabricated from green-solvent o -xylene high-boiling point. Notably, ternary offer robust operating under maximum-power-point tracking well-keep > 80% initial PCEs even 400 h. Our alkyl-tailored strategy provides unique approach develop high-efficiency stable OSCs, paves way industrial development.

Abstract As simple and versatile tools, additives have been widely used to refine active layer morphology played a crucial role in boosting the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs). Herein, three novel solvent named Th‐FSi, Th‐ClSi, Th‐BrSi with same backbone 2,5‐bis(trimethylsilyl)thiophene are designed synthesized by substituting different halogens fluorine, chlorine, bromine, respectively. Notably, Th‐ClSi exhibits more significant dipole moment engages non‐covalent interactions small‐molecule acceptor (SMA) L8‐BO, which slight adjustments intermolecular interaction, crystallinity, molecular packing PM6:L8‐BO layer. Consequently, OSCs incorporating outperform their Th‐FSi counterparts photo‐capturing, reduced energy loss, superior exciton dissociation, charge transfer properties, out‐coming yields an enhanced PCE 18.29%. Moreover, integrating near‐infrared absorbing SMA (BTP‐eC9) guest into matrix, absorption spectrum span 880–930 nm, resultant ternary achieve commendable 19.17%, ranking among highest efficiencies reported date is expanded. These findings underscore promise halogenated thiophene‐based as potent avenue for morphological fine‐tuning consequent enhancement OSCs.

Abstract Ternary strategyopens a simple avenue to improve the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of organic solar cells (OSCs). The introduction wide bandgap polymer donors (PDs) as third component canbetter utilize sunlight and mechanical thermal stability active layer. However, efficient ternary OSCs (TOSCs) with two PDs are rarely reported due inferior compatibility shortage match acceptors. Herein, PDs‐(PBB‐F PBB‐Cl) adopted in dual‐PDs systems explore underlying mechanisms their photovoltaic performance. findings demonstrate that components exhibit excellent miscibility PM6 embedded host donor form alloy‐like phase. A more profound mechanism for enhancing through dual mechanisms, guest energy transfer charge transport at donor/acceptor interface, has been proposed. Consequently, PM6:PBB‐Cl:BTP‐eC9 TOSCs achieve PCE over 19%. Furthermore, better than binary reduction spatial site resistance resulting from tightly entangled long‐chain structure. This work not only provides an effective approach fabricate high‐performance TOSCs, but also demonstrates importance developing compatible PD materials.

Abstract Ternary organic solar cells (T‐OSCs) based on energy transfer can significantly boost the light absorption efficiency, thereby improving their power conversion efficiency (PCE). However, uncontrolled distribution of third component in bulk heterojunction (BHJ) device often results low ( E FRET ), and also tends to compromise interpenetrating network structure active layer. Herein, a localized deposition strategy is proposed establish with controlled (CDBHJ). Take PM6:Y6:IBC‐F for example, IBC‐F serves as donor PM6 acceptor. Compared BHJ‐based devices, proportion within phase increases from 25.1% 72.7%, enhancing 46.5% 66.8% CDBHJ‐based devices. Furthermore, improves crystallization separation kinetics during film‐forming process. Thus, exhibits superior exciton generation, diffusion, dissociation process, along higher more balanced charge transport. Consequently, achieves PCE 18.29%, which ranks among best PM6:Y6‐based T‐OSCs.
