Abstract Single‐walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibit excellent electrical, optical, and mechanical properties, making them great candidate materials for emerging applications such as high‐performance electronics, transparent electrodes, flexible sensors. The controlled assembly organization into thin films, including random networks aligned arrays, are critical SWCNTs to fully demonstrate their performances. In the past three decades, with development of growth, dispersing, sorting SWCNTs, various deposition methods have been proposed put practice. Yet, obtained films not entirely met requirements high‐end applications, especially arrays. This review comprehensively scrutinizes preparing SWCNT from dispersions, ways form networks: adsorption on substrates, precipitation vacuum filtration, five create arrays: field‐induced alignment, aggregation at interfaces contact lines, well‐controlled alignment by matrix deformation, patterned substrates. addition, practices directly depositing gas phase, represented floating catalyst chemical vapor process, also referred. These discussions about achieved milestones remaining challenges expected further inspire experimental designs promote application films.
