Abstract Organic afterglow materials have drawn increasing attention for their great potential in practical applications. Until now, most of them just show the lifetimes milliseconds or seconds, while realization long persistent luminescence (LPL) lasting minutes even hours is difficult. In 2017, Adachi and Kabe successfully realize LPL with a duration longer than 1 hour purely organic system, which can be comparable to some excellent inorganic materials. However, partially unclear structure‐property relationship, are still rather scarce, especially stable ones air aqueous solution. this review, we present recent progress LPL, mainly focusing on material design strategy internal mechanism. It anticipated that deep understanding beneficial further development good stability phase.

Abstract Inorganic persistent phosphors feature great potential for cancer diagnosis due to the long luminescence lifetime, low background scattering, and minimal autofluorescence. With prominent advantages of near‐infrared light, such as deep penetration, high resolution, autofluorescence, tissue absorption, can be used bioimaging. We focus on highlighting inorganic phosphors, emphasizing synthesis methods applications in diagnostics. Typical synthetic high‐temperature solid state, thermal decomposition, hydrothermal/solvothermal, template are proposed obtain small‐size biological organisms. The mechanisms with different excitation discussed effective matrixes including galliumate, germanium, aluminate, fluoride explored. Finally, current directions where continue optimized how further overcome challenges summarized.

Room-temperature phosphorescence materials have found important applications in dissolved oxygen sensing, temperature monitoring, anticounterfeiting, etc., because of their prolonged lifetime. However, the known systems mainly utilize triplet local excited state emission, which is generally less sensitive to microenvironment perturbation. In this work, we designed a series 4-phenyl-1,8-naphthalimide (NMI) derivatives containing different numbers carbazole (Cz) units (denoted as NMI-Cz, NMI-2Cz, and NMI-3Cz). Steady time-resolved spectroscopy studies determined that compounds undergo intramolecular through-space charge transfer solution, yielding hybrid state. emission was observed compound-doped poly(methyl methacrylate) thin films upon ammonia treatment. Interestingly, from exhibited persistence times. We believe film-based, luminescent sensor could be developed by making device emissive fabricated.
