In a quest to explore interconvertible assemblies of hydrates cobalt(II), copper(II), and zinc(II) 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylate (26-pdc), complexes having cation chloro-substituted analogue N-{(10-chloroanthracen-9-yl)methyl}-3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propan-1-amine were investigated. the case cobalt copper complexes, crystallized stable hydrate less methanol guided by concentration-dependent crystallizations. The unit-cells crystals two each belong P1̅ space group but have different stoichiometries as well large differences in packing. These could be reversibly predictable manner. unit-cell volumes complex four-times smaller than that respective form (C2/c group), whereas similar had two-times volume form. cations forms assembled together formed zigzag ladder-like chains. spaces present between chains filled with clusters face stacked anions. transformation required bottom-up building process starting from hydrates. Fluorescence spectroscopic studies showed possibility zinc-complex solution, crystallization yielded only
