Abstract Rotaxanes and catenanes have proven to be key structures in the development of artificial molecular machines with a variety applications. Among them, study modulation optical properties, mainly light emission, been widely explored. The growing interest chiral mechanically interlocked molecules has enabled this research extended chiroptical particular circularly polarized luminescence. In review, we discuss progress on topic, from seminal examples number reported very recent years. Both rotaxanes fixed or static CPL response are reviewed, but also designs that exploit switching mechanisms by these architectures modulate switch their both solution and/or aggregate solid state.

Materials with circularly polarized luminescence have garnered significant attention due to their applications in anticounterfeiting and displays. In this work, we synthesized a pair of AIEgens, designated as D- L-TA-TPE, dopants by utilizing tartaric acid tetraphenylethylene. These AIEgens were incorporated into nematic liquid crystal polymer network films. The resulting films exhibited |glum| values about 7.0 × 10–3, which can be attributed the chiral conformations these two AIEgens. For AIEgen-doped cholesteric (CLCN) films, selective Bragg reflection CLCN reached 0.7. When composite incorporating both fluorescent layers examined, 1.6. value increased increasing film thickness. patterns prepared using photomask or through screen printing. Based on handedness CPL, distinct images observed left- right-handed circular polarizers. Therefore, are potentially applied for decoration anticounterfeiting.
