ABSTRACT
Evidence
regarding
whether
consumers
view
plant‐based
meat
alternatives
(PBMAs)
as
substitutes
for
or
complements
to
is
mixed;
however,
the
ultimate
effect
of
increased
demand
PBMAs
on
poultry
and
livestock
production

elasticity
estimates

Comparing the potential of meat alternatives for a more sustainable food system

highlight

externalities
associated

meat
consumption,
necessitating

shift
towards
diets

intake.

persuading
individuals
to
reduce
consumption

have
been
proposed
as
