Governments around the world acted in response to COVID-19 pandemic through lockdowns and border closures that had specific impacts on temporary residents (migrants, asylum seekers refugees). In Australia, there were differential responses across states territories, a critical distinction made at Federal government level between permanent citizens as compared migrants. The result has been continued Othering of certain groups Australians culturally linguistically diverse backgrounds well migrants refugees basis racial characteristics visa status. This study examines perceptions of changes in intimate relationships among partnered, immigrant women New York City during the first year COVID-19 pandemic. We pay close attention to how structural oppression, particularly related undocumented immigration status, shaped women's experiences with their partners a period social upheaval. has exacerbated many existing inequities and subsequent stressors that have been shown an adverse effect on relationships, including increased economic instability mental health distress.
