Abstract Ligand‐protected gold nanoclusters (AuNCs) have emerged as a new class of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) luminophores for their interesting catalytic and emission properties, although quantum yield ( Φ ECL ) in aqueous medium is low with poor mechanistic understanding the process. Now it shown that drying AuNCs on electrodes enabled both enhanced electrochemical excitation by an electrocatalytic effect, aggregation‐induced (AIECL) 6‐aza‐2‐thiothymine (ATT) protected triethylamine (TEA) coreactant. The dried ATT‐AuNCs/TEA system resulted highly stable visual 78 %, similar enhancement was also achieved methionine‐capped AuNCs. dual‐enhancement mechanism has solved challenging problem AuNC probes, can guide further rational design emitters.

Abstract The demand for transporting coreactant to emitter and short lifetime of the radicals in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emission inhibit greatly its application cytosensing microscopic imaging. Herein we designed a dual intramolecular electron transfer strategy tertiary amine conjugated polymer dots (TEA‐Pdots) develop coreactant‐embedded ECL mechanism microimaging system. TEA‐Pdots could produce at +1.2 V without need test solution. superstructure led unprecedented strength, which was 132 45 times stronger than those from mixture Pdots with TEA equivalent 62.5 higher amounts, respectively. efficiency even that typical [Ru(bpy) 3 ] 2+ Therefore, this system be used situ membrane protein on single living cells additional permeable treatment coreactant. feasibility validity were demonstrated by evaluating specific expression cell surface. Semiconducting polymeric carbon nitride (CN) has drawn wide attention ranging from photocatalysis to more recent biosensing owing unique defect-tolerated optoelectronic properties and being metal-free, cheap, highly stable. However, at the core of electrical-optical interconversion, preparation CN photoelectrode is still challenging. Now, growth on electrodes achieved simply by microwave-assisted condensation in seconds. The ultrafast heating not only addressed thermodynamic contradiction precursor volatilization during polymerization but also led strongly adhesive layer with gradient carbon-rich texture, greatly accelerating electron-hole separation mobility. Consequently, exhibited a remarkable photocurrent record cathodic efficiency electrochemiluminescence up 7 times that benchmark Ru(bpy)3 Cl2 aqueous solution.

Abstract Electrochemiluminescence (ECL) plays a key role in analysis and sensing because of its high sensitivity low background. Its wide applications are however limited by lack highly tunable ECL luminophores. Here we develop scalable method to design emitters covalent organic frameworks (COFs) aqueous medium simultaneously restricting the donor acceptor COFs’ tight electron configurations constructing high-speed charge transport networks through olefin linkages. This allows efficient intramolecular transfer for strong ECL, no exogenous poisonous co-reactants needed. Olefin-linked donor-acceptor conjugated COFs, systematically synthesized combining non-ECL active monomers with C 2v or 3v symmetry, exhibit signals, which can be boosted increasing chain length conjugation monomers. The present concept demonstrates that COF-based luminophores precisely designed, providing promising direction toward phosphors.

The control of charge transfer between radical anions and cations is a promising way for decoding the emission mechanism in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) systems. Herein, type donor-acceptor (D-A) covalent organic framework (COF) with triphenylamine triazine units designed as highly efficient ECL emitter tunable intrareticular (IRCT). D-A COF demonstrates 123 folds enhancement intensity compared its benzene-based small contrast. Further, COF's crystallinity- protonation-modulated behaviors confirm dependence on donor acceptor units, which rationalized by density functional theory. Significantly, dual-peaked patterns COFs are achieved through an IRCT mediated competitive oxidation mechanism: coreactant-mediated at lower potential direct higher potential. This work provides new fundamental approach to improve efficiency designing next-generation devices.
