Carbon nanodots are currently one of the hot topics in nanomaterials world, due to their accessible synthesis and promising features. However, purification these materials is still a critical aspect, especially for syntheses involving molecular precursors. Indeed, presence unreacted species or small organic molecules formed during solvothermal treatments can affect properties synthesized nanomaterials. To illustrate extreme importance this issue, we present two case studies which insufficient results misleading conclusions regarding chiral fluorescent investigated materials. Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs) are able to collect sunlight from a large-area generate electric power with low cost, showing great potential in building-integrated photovoltaics. However, the efficiency of LSCs caused by reabsorption losses is critical issue that hampers their practical applications. In this work, we synthesized novel yellow emissive carbon dots (CDs) large Stokes shift 193 nm, which exhibit nearly zero reabsorption. The quantum yield (QY) emitting CDs up 61%. can be employed fabricate high-performance due successful suppression losses. as-prepared absorb 14% as absorption matches well sun's spectrum. LSC (10 × 10 cm2) laminated structure based on achieves an optical conversion (ηopt) 4.56% and (ηPCE) 4.1% under natural (45 mW cm-2), significantly higher than other previously reported works similar sizes. Furthermore, prepared show good stability. This method synthesizing for high-efficiency provides useful platform future study application LSCs.

Carbon dots (CDs) are promising luminescent emission layer materials for next generation electroluminescent light emitting diodes (EL-LEDs) due to their many advantages, such as environmental friendliness, low cost, and high stability. However, limited by the spin-forbidden properties of triplet transition, it is difficult improve external quantum efficiency (EQE) fluorescent CDs-based EL-LEDs. Meanwhile, traditional thermally activated delayed (TADF) CDs prepared using coating strategies utilize in EL-LEDs nonconductivity agent. Herein, we successfully developed matrix-free TADF with yellow achieved a device EQE 5.68%, which highest value reported In addition, also white an 1.70%.
