We
report
the
ring-opening
polymerization
of
N-alkylated
aromatic
six-membered
ring
N-carboxyanhydrides
(6-NCA-R)
catalyzed
by
transition
metal
Schiff
base
complexes
in
presence
a
base.
This
system
allows
facile
synthesis
ortho-aromatic
polyamides
with
high
molecular
weights
via
chain-growth
polymerization.
A
mechanism
is
proposed
based
on
results
polymerizations
performed
under
various
reaction
conditions.
Copolymerization
6-NCA-R
heterocyclic
monomers
to
prepare
heteroatom
(N,
O,
and
S)
containing
copolymers.
The
thermal
properties
polymers
different
N-alkyl
side
chains
were
investigated

Although
sulfurated
polymers
promise
unique
properties,
their
controlled
synthesis,
particularly
when
it
comes
to
complex
and
functional
architectures,
remains
challenging.
Here,
we
show
that
the
copolymerization
of
oxetane
phenyl
isothiocyanates
quantitatively
forms
polythioimidocarbonates
with
narrow
molecular
weight
distributions
(Mn
=
5–80
kg/mol
Đ
≤
1.2;
Mn,max
124
kg/mol).
Studying
thermal
properties
through
a
specially
developed
self-nucleation
procedure,
high
melting
points
up
181
ºC
are
revealed
for
which
π-stacking
substituents
kinetically
linkage
selectivity
key
factors.
Tolerance
macro-chain
transfer
agents
propagation
allows
synthesis
double
crystalline
amphiphilic
block
copolymers
enables
application
in
crystallization-driven
self-assembly,
an
unventured
territory
copolymers.
