The one-pot terpolymerization of epoxide (EP), anhydride (AH), and CO2 to synthesize polyester-polycarbonate copolymers with precise sequences remains a significant challenge in polymer chemistry. In this study, promising progress was achieved by utilizing cyclic trimeric phosphazene base (CTPB) triethylboron (TEB) as binary catalyst, enabling the synthesis both well-defined block truly random poly(ester-carbonate) through EP/AH/CO2. By adjusting molar ratio CTPB/TEB 1/0.5, remarkable chemoselectivity for ring-opening alternating copolymerization (ROAC) propylene oxide (PO) phthalic (PA) achieved, followed ROAC PO/CO2. This sequential control allowed copolymers, containing three possible sequences, ester-ester sequence (EE)/ester-carbonate (EC)/carbonate-carbonate (CC) = 59/4/37, from mixture PO, PA, CO2. Moreover, versatility catalyst regulating demonstrated, 1/3 facilitating simultaneous PO/PA PO/CO2 compatible rates, resulting production which (EE/EC/CC 26/50/24) are very close theoretical values. metal-free catalytic system its flexible regulation strategy proved be applicable wide range epoxides (PO, cyclohexene (CHO)) anhydrides (PA, diglycolic (DGA), succinic (SA)), successful diverse compositions.
