We report the unexpected nucleophilic ring-opening reaction of electron deficient dioxins in presence carbazole under basic conditions. This is reversible conditions absence nucleophiles. Further, we demonstrate that this reactivity can be used to prepare novel donor-acceptor compounds are emissive solution and as thin films exhibit thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF).
