Abstract This case study introduces an innovative multivariate methodology for assessing the lifetime of marine engineering systems, specifically in cargo vessel transportation. The analysis focused on stress data collected onboard a 4400 TEU container during multiple trans‐Atlantic voyages. One major challenges transport lies mitigating risk loss due to excessive whipping loads. Accurate prediction extreme levels deck panels remains difficult, primarily because nonlinear and non‐stationary nature wave ship motion interactions. Higher‐order dynamic effects, such as second‐ third‐order responses, often become significant when ships operate under adverse environmental conditions, amplifying influences. Laboratory simulations, constrained by characteristics scale similarity issues, may not always provide reliable results. Consequently, from vessels navigating weather conditions serves critical resource comprehensive assessment. primary goal this was validate demonstrate effectiveness novel evaluation approach, leveraging measurements areal pressure core dataset. Abstract The current study advances research on the consequences of global climate change by utilizing novel Gaidai multivariate risks evaluation methodology to conduct spatiotemporal analysis areal windspeeds. Multidimensional structural and environmental dynamic systems that have been either physically observed or numerically simulated over a representative time-lapse are particularly suitable for methodology. Current also presents non-parametric deconvolution extrapolation method. As this has shown, given in situ input, it is possible accurately predict system hazard risks, based even limited underlying dataset. Furthermore, because their complex nonlinear cross-correlations between various system-critical dimensions components large dimensionality, difficult handle using traditional methods evaluating risks. In North Pacific, close Hawaiian Islands, NOAA buoys gathered raw wind speed data, which utilized study. Intercontinental transportation relies heavily on medium-to-large cargo vessels, constituting an essential component of the global trade. Thus, it is paramount importance for trading companies, engineers, designers to advance innovative, economically viable logistical and structural schemes, that are safe reliable. Full-scale onboard recorded data, when available, serves as valuable diagnostic tool hard overestimate. An operating medium-size ship TEU2800 had been selected current investigation. hull dynamics by excessive deck panel strains, occurring during ship's intercontinental sailings through potentially adverse weather conditions. Inherent risks damaging vessel losing containers, caused motions/loads, being one primary concerns industry. Primary novelty this investigation twofold: first, a unique measured representative dataset analyzed; second, novel multimodal reliability methodology employed analyzed raw data. Presented study advocates state-of-the-art Gaidai spatiotemporal assessment methodology, enabling conservative hazard/damage/failure risk forecasting nonstationary, nonlinear, dynamics, under accumulated fatigue damage. Note advocated evaluation generic nature may be straightforwardly applied wide range contemporary complex naval, offshore, marine systems, hence not limited vessels only.

ABSTRACT This case study presents state‐of‐the‐art, multimodal structural reliability and risk evaluation methodology, particularly suitable for naval architecture, transportation marine engineering applications. Existing methods do not easily tackle systems with a number of critical components higher than 2, while the advocated methodology has no limitations on system's dimensions, parts or components. The 4400 TEU container vessel's onboard measured deck panel stresses raw data, collected during numerous trans‐Atlantic crossings, was analysed. Risk ship hull damage caused by excessive whipping (slamming springing) wave loads, representing types highly nonlinear wave‐induced vibrations, are among primary safety concerns contemporary industry. It is often challenging to accurately forecast hot‐spot stresses, possessing complex nonlinear, nonstationary properties. proposed hypersurface method fully accounts large components, as well dynamic nonlinearities. Lab testing may be disputed, obtained measurements will depend biased incident properties model scales. As result, dataset, from particular cargo ship, operating in North Atlantic provides especially valuable insights into an overall vessel durability reliability. investigation aimed at providing generic state‐of‐the‐art enabling accurate extraction pertinent information about dynamics, e.g., derived sensor‐recorded time histories.
