Abstract Endowing polyurethane foam with high fire resistance and smoke suppression is a persistent challenge in the combustion industry. This study introduces graphite‐tailings calcium‐alginate (GT@CA) gelatum coating that terminates heat mass transfer process flexible (PUF) matrix suppression. The PUF/GT@CA‐3 composite exhibits flame retardancy V‐0 rating vertical test. Furthermore, GT@CA forms protective char layers terminate during thermal degradation, stability behavior of PUF/GT@CA composites are markedly optimized. Meanwhile, production rate total dramatically reduced to 1.17 × 10 −2 m 2 /s 2.73 −1 , respectively (81.19% 83.26% lower than those pure PUF, respectively). Finally, retardant mechanism PUF deduced. competently promotes forming while fabricating an impervious layer. on surface restrain oxygen diffusion, micromolecule volatilization processes. Hence, expected expand application range matrixes advanced materials field.
