Abstract In order to explore the thermal-storage stability of waterborne polyurethane (WPU) fabricated by prepolymer method, a series WPUs were prepared with polyether polyol (PPG), aliphatic isocyanate (IPDI), dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA), 1, 4-butanediol (BDO), triethyl amine (TEA) and hydrazine hydrate (HyHy). Effects -NCO content prepolymer, ratio [NCO] [H] after post-extension, HyHy dilution adding time, solid WPU, detailedly investigated. The viscosity appearance used characterize during process. Decreasing post-extension (SC) WPUs, rise for in process decreased significantly; increasing H2O prolonging addition time aqueous solution process, stable under environment could be obtained. mechanism affected “cage effect” was proved. systematic study on influencing factors this is great significance understanding method promote industrialization via method.

Amid environmental pollution and resource depletion, developing utilizing biomass resources as alternatives to petroleum is a prominent research focus. Driven by protection sustainable development, the shift from petroleum-based bio-based polyurethane prevailing trend in material development. Biomass sources such vegetable oil, polysaccharides, lignin offer extensive application prospects production. Functional modifications of these polyurethanes can further expand their range. This article explores preparation various polyurethanes, applications across different fields, anticipated future development uses.
