Echinoderms, a diverse group of marine invertebrates including starfish, sea urchins, and cucumbers, have been recognized as prolific sources structurally natural products. In the past five years, remarkable progress has made in isolation, structural elucidation, pharmacological assessment these bioactive compounds. These metabolites, polysaccharides, triterpenoids, steroids, peptides, demonstrate potent bioactivities such anticancer, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial effects, providing valuable insights scaffolds for drug discovery. This review highlights diversity biological activities products derived from echinoderms over last with particular focus on their structure–activity relationships therapeutic potential. It also outlines prospects challenges future research, aiming to stimulate further exploration

To explore the antioxidant activity of enzymatic hydrolysates S. japonicus from Dalian and preliminarily elucidate their mechanisms action both in vitro vivo. Samples were hydrolysed using alcalase, protamex, neutrase. 2,2-diphenyl-1-(2,4,6-trinitrophenyl)hydrazyl (DPPH) 2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) radical scavenging assays showed that alcalase hydrolysate had highest activity, with IC50 values 4.233 ± 0.067 mg/mL 1.188 0.066 (ABTS). Further cell experiments indicated effectively inhibited intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS), a fluorescence rate 4.29% 1.98%, modulated antioxidant-related enzymes (superoxide dismutase: SOD, glutathione peroxidase: GSH-PX, malondialdehyde: MDA). The obtained optimal was analysed by LC-MS/MS. zebrafish (AAPH: 100%) decreased to 29.24% 1.10% (acridine orange: AO) 56.71% 0.02% no observed embryonic toxicity. This study provides foundation for development natural antioxidants.

Matrikines (MKs), the products of enzymatic fragmentation various extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, regulate cellular activity by interacting with specific receptors. MKs affect cell growth, proliferation, and migration, can induce apoptosis autophagy, are also effectively used in biomedicine functional nutrition. Recently, there has been great interest structural features biological from sources. This review summarized analyzed results modern research on sea cucumbers, primarily trepang (MKT). Particular attention is paid to analysis existing knowledge antioxidant, anti-inflammatory adaptogenic activities these possible mechanisms their protective action.
