A red-light-activated phthalocyanine ruthenium complex has been designed as a catalyst for the bifunctionalization of styrene derivatives. The combination trifluoromethylation agent resistant to nucleophiles and various facilitates concurrent incorporation trifluoromethyl group functional groups onto double bond substrate. This reaction demonstrates utility mild, low-energy, highly transmissive long-wavelength light intricate molecular transformations in one-pot procedure.
