Rationale: Exogenous supplementation of beneficial intestinal bacteria can alleviate the behavioural symptoms psychiatric disorders, such as autism spectrum disorder (ASD), through gut-brain interactions. However, application bacteria, Lactobacillus reuteri (L. reuteri), for treating ASD is hindered by limited gut colonization. Methods: Utilizing Spirulina platensis (SP) a natural microcarrier safer and more binding approach was employed to bind surface SP produce SP-intestinal bacteria. Due high adhesion efficiency long residence time in intestines, exhibit stronger colonization ability better therapeutic effects on ASD. Results: an effective carrier that deliver different shapes with gram-staining properties. exhibited enhanced capabilities both ex vivo vivo. Further research showed SP-L. had greater than L. reuteri. effect alleviating social deficits mouse model modulating microbiota, enhancing barrier integrity, reducing lipopolysaccharide entry into blood mediating neuroinflammatory response paraventricular thalamic nucleus. Conclusions: This study reports microalgae-assisted bacterial delivery system transplantation axis- or other intestinal-related diseases.
