Abstract Tetrahydro‐ β ‐carbolines (TH Cs) also known as tryptolines serve important structural elements in natural products and pharmaceutical compounds, they are utilized drug discovery. They display diverse bioactivities, including anticancer, antifungal, antiparasitic, anti‐ischemic, anti‐inflammatory, other activities. Besides their pharmacological biological significance, these motifs extensively used the production of bioactive compounds. Abstract Dearomatization offers an efficient strategy for directly converting arenes into cyclic molecules. In this review, we discuss representative examples of dearomatization reactions through five modes: (1) radical dearomatization, (2) halofunctionalization‐dearomatization, in which three‐membered intermediates were frequently involved, (3) nucleophilic mainly about electron‐rich arenes, (4) oxidative and (5) reductive dearomatization. Compared to heteroarenes, simple benzene are more challenging participate reactions. recent years, fewer reports have focused on benzene. Heteroarenes, inherently or easily activated, tend undergo readily. This review highlights a decade progress including indoles, benzofurans, benzothiophenes, thiophenes, furans, naphthols, naphthalenes, quinolines, pyridines, nitrobenzenes, benzenes. It also analyzes their mechanisms strategies. We hope will aid future research field.

Hydroxanthones have attracted considerable attention due to their significance in organic and biological chemistry, yet synthesis remains a great challenge. In this study, series of chromone-tethered alkenes are designed, radical cyclization reaction these chromone derivatives has been achieved under photoredox conditions. The uses bromodifluoroacetamides or bromodifluoroacetates as coupling partners, affording broad range functionalized tetrahydroxanthone products with up 85% yields. is triggered via the generation difluoroacetate radicals alkene cations fac-Ir(ppy)3 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(carbazol-9-yl)-1,4-dicyanobenzene photocatalyst. This approach offers access various from readily available starting materials enriches research content heteroarene-tethered alkenes.
