Abstract Aims Recent trial data demonstrate beneficial effects of active rhythm management in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and support the concept that a low arrhythmia burden is associated risk AF-related complications. The aim this document to summarize key outcomes 9th AFNET/EHRA Consensus Conference Atrial Fibrillation NETwork (AFNET) European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). Methods results Eighty-three international experts met Münster for 2 days September 2023. Key findings are as follows: (i) Active should be part default initial treatment all suitable AF. (ii) Patients device-detected AF have stroke. Anticoagulation prevents some strokes also increases major but non-lethal bleeding. (iii) More research needed improve stroke prediction AF, especially those burden. Biomolecules, genetics, imaging can this. (iv) presence trigger systematic workup comprehensive concomitant cardiovascular conditions. (v) Machine learning algorithms been used detection or likely development Cooperation between clinicians scientists leverage potential science applications Conclusions lower other events than high Combining control, anticoagulation, rate therapy conditions lives

Cognitive impairment is common in patients with cardiovascular disease. One 3 presenting at cardiology clinics have some degree of cognitive impairment, depending on the cardiac condition, comorbidities, and age. In up to half these cases may go unrecognized; however, it affect self-management treatment adherence. The high prevalence disease likely due shared risk factors, as well direct consequences dysfunction brain. Moreover, interventions beneficial adverse effects functioning. this review, we describe factors for several conditions: heart failure, coronary artery disease, aortic valve stenosis. We discuss potential guideline-based treatments cognition identify open questions unmet needs. Given unrecognized patients, recommend a stepwise approach improve detection management impairment.

Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) plays an important role in cardiometabolic risk. EAT is a modifiable risk factor and could be potential therapeutic target for drugs that already show cardiovascular benefits. The aim of this study to evaluate the effect on reduction.A detailed search related reduction due drugs, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1 RA), sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors (SGLT2-i), statins was conducted according PRISMA guidelines. Eighteen studies enrolling 1064 patients were included qualitative quantitative analyses. All three analyzed drug classes, particular GLP-1 RA, significant RA standardize mean difference (SMD) = - 1.005; p < 0.001; SGLT2-i SMD 0.552; 0.001, statin 0.195; 0.001). sensitivity analysis showed strongly benefit thickness reduction, measured by ultrasound (overall 0.663; 95%CI 0.79, 0.52; Meta-regression revealed younger age higher BMI modifiers association between both composite thickness, (age Z: 3.99; 0.001 1.97; respectively; 4.40; 2.85; 0.004, respectively).Cardiometabolic beneficial reduction. more effective than SGLT2-i, while had rather mild effect. We believe most treatment with these should high BMI.
