Abstract The transition from traditional stoichiometric methods to catalytic processes has significantly advanced the synthesis of xanthones, privileged structures with diverse biological activities. This review critically examines various homogeneous and heterogeneous methodologies, emphasising their efficiency, adherence green chemistry principles. Through comparative analysis key metrics such as Reaction Mass Efficiency (RME), Process Intensity (PMI), E‐factor, Turnover Number (TON), we highlight superior performance catalysts, which demonstrate high reusability, selectivity, minimal waste generation. choice solvent, a crucial factor in environmental footprint these processes, is also assessed, focusing on greener alternatives. robust nature economic viability catalysts make them ideal for large‐scale applications, offering suitable solutions more environmentally‐friendly xanthone production. Furthermore, reduction by‐products importance catalyst purity pharmaceutical applications are discussed, underscoring relevance advancements meeting rigorous standards industry. provides valuable insights into ongoing evolution strategies synthesis, driving future developments medicinal chemistry.
