Introduction : Oral frailty is a geriatric syndrome characterised by decline in oral function associated with cognitive and physical function. Virtual reality hypnosis (VRH) current method that combines the benefits of virtual (VR) technology hypnosis. Aim This case report aims to describe role VRH management elderly patients frailty. Case Management A 65-year-old male patient came Medicine Department chief complaint dry mouth for past three months. The often felt stressed because his health problems. Intraoral examination showed frothy saliva, white plaque on buccal lateral mucosa tongue, missing teeth, poor hygiene. Some additional examinations performed included Indonesian Version Summated Xerostomia Inventory (SXI-ID), Clinical Dryness Score (CODS), sialometry, Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS-21), D-E-N-T-A-L questionnaire. test results had Management: Pharmacological therapy consisted chlorine dioxide mouthwash, sucralfate syrup, probiotic caplets. Non-pharmacological instructions maintain good hygiene, adopt healthy lifestyle, VRH. relaxing effect was evidenced recording increased alpha waves quantitative electroencephalography (qEEG) during procedure, SXI-ID, CODS, DASS-21 at last visit were normal. resolved after two weeks treatment. also referred care from Departments Periodontia, Prosthodontia, Surgery. Conclusion has an important especially stress-induced xerostomia pain

High-order interactions are required across brain regions to accomplish specific cognitive functions. These functional interdependencies reflected by synergistic information that can be obtained combining the from all sources considered and redundant (i.e., common provided sources). However, electroencephalogram (EEG) connectivity is limited pairwise thereby precluding estimation of high-order interactions. In this multicentric study, we used measures study in parallel between five EEG electrodes during three non-ordinary states consciousness (NSCs): Rajyoga meditation (RM), hypnosis, auto-induced trance (AICT). We analyzed data 22 long-term meditators, nine volunteers undergoing 21 practitioners AICT. here report within-group changes synergy redundancy for each NSC comparison with their respective baseline. During RM, increased at whole level delta theta bands. Redundancy decreased frontal, right central, posterior delta, beta1 beta2 mid-frontal, temporal, mid-centro-parietal band. The decrease was also observed band left frontal parietal electrodes. AICT, bands left-frontal, right-frontocentral, alpha hypnosis AICT were not significant. subjective reports absorption dissociation as well mystical experience questionnaires showed no correlation measures. proposed first exploratory attempt utilize concepts NSCs. differences different NSCs warrant further studies relate extracted phenomenology

Background The management of chronic pain may involve an array tools, including radiofrequency thermocoagulation (Rf-Tc) sensory nerve terminals. Like many other invasive procedures, Rf-Tc can generate anxiety in a lot patients, either during the expectation procedure or course it. Virtual reality hypnosis (VRH) is promising tool for managing and several situations, but its anxiolytic property has not been investigated participants with going through procedure. Objectives goal this study was to evaluate effectiveness VRH reducing self-assessed pain, when received preparation Rf-Tc. Materials methods This prospective, controlled trial conducted Interdisciplinary Algology Centre University Hospital Liège (Belgium). Participants were assigned two groups: control (usual care). Assessment carried-out at 4 time points: T0 (one week before Rf-Tc); T1 (pre-intervention, on day T2 (immediately after intervention outside room); T3 (right Rf-Tc). Medical, sociodemographic data, trait immersive tendencies collected T0. Anxiety state intensity assessed each points. Satisfaction examined T3. Results Forty-two quasi-randomly group. No statistically significant interaction group by observed regarding all measured variables, primary endpoint. However, effect found considering both groups together, toward progressive reduction. Conclusion In context our study, there appears be no undergoing decreases along procedure, while attenuated local anesthetic infiltration Rf site. Our results suggest that presence caregiver throughout might explain decrease anxiety. Future randomized trials are needed precisely tool, possibility using it as complementary approach procedures.

Myofascial pain syndrome (MPS) is a highly prevalent and burdensome cause of globally, representing major focus chronic management. Management MPS variable, with therapies ranging from interventional approaches to physical therapy. Virtual reality (VR) novel form therapy being actively explored as an adjuvant procedural sedation in the acute setting, increasingly means management through programs that facilitate education, mindfulness, among other approaches. However, date, there are minimal clinical studies assessing VR within context treatments. Given existing volume work published setting translational exploring neuroplasticity pain, we make case here it appropriate time consider non-pharmacological treatment for MPS.

When used separately, virtual reality (VR) and mind-body therapies (MBTs) have the potential to reduce pain across various acute chronic conditions. While their combination is increasingly used, no study offers a consolidated presentation of VR MBTs. This aims propose an overview effectiveness combined with MBTs (i.e., meditation, mindfulness, relaxation, hypnosis) decrease experienced by healthy volunteers or patients. We conducted scoping review literature using PubMed, Science Direct Google Scholar included 43 studies. Findings studies support that feasible, well-tolerated, potentially useful pain. Their also had positive effect on anxiety, mood, relaxation. However, insufficient research this VR/MBTs lack multidimensional impede comprehensive understanding full potential. More randomized controlled are thus needed, usability evaluation protocols better understand effects patients wellbeing incorporate them into routine clinical practice.
