Hypnosis shows great potential for managing patients suffering from fibromyalgia and chronic pain. Several studies have highlighted its efficacy in improving pain, quality of life, reducing psychological distress. Despite known feasibility efficacy, the mechanisms action remain poorly understood. Building on these insights, this innovative study aims to assess neural activity during hypnosis using high-density electroencephalography (EEG) self-reported measures.

Background and Objectives: Botulinum toxin injections are commonly used for the treatment of spasticity. However, injection procedures associated with pain procedural anxiety. While pharmacological approaches to reduce these, inno-vative technology might be considered as a potential non-pharmacological alternative. Given this context, immersive virtual reality (VR) has shown effectiveness in man-agement pain[1]. Our retrospective pilot study aimed assess added value management anxiety during intra-muscular botulinum toxin. Materials Methods: Twenty-one adult patients receiving were included. A numerical rating scale was procedure. The patient reported experienced previous without VR before expe-rienced current procedure after end Level satis-faction experience, if they agreed reuse subsequent injection, would recommend other assessed. Results: use showed decrease 1.8 pain-related points compared technology. No significant improvement level reported. Patients very satisfied by their experience (7.9 out 10) agree next (88%) (100%). Conclusion: useful managing related adults, high satisfaction patient. should valuable alternative approach manage adults.

Hypnosis is commonly used to deal with acute and chronic pain, anxiety, or addictions. However, it difficult quantify its effectiveness measure in real-time. In this preliminary study, we aimed identify biomarkers using EEG during hypnosis. We developed an experimental protocol based on a covert attentional task, not requiring the participants answer any stimuli neither focus them, but rather follow hypnotist suggestions. were able evoked related potential (ERP), mismatch negativity, elicited by sound played experiment. This ERP showed signs of modulation linked participant state (hypnosis control condition) as well amplitude level hypnotizability. can be measured mostly central frontal electrodes, making good candidate for future medical device that could worn example small surgeries. also find bandpower index inform about transition from induction hypnosis phase. The final goal would develop help patient training monitoring.
