Psychosomatic disorders involve a complex interplay between psychological distress and physical symptoms, often exacerbated by maladaptive cognitive emotional responses. This chapter explores the role of Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) self-compassion as effective mind-body interventions for managing these conditions. ACT fosters flexibility, enabling individuals to accept distressing thoughts bodily sensations without avoidance while engaging in values-based actions. Self-compassion, on other hand, helps reduce self-criticism, distress, coping mechanisms promoting self-kindness, mindfulness, sense shared humanity. Empirical research highlights efficacy reducing symptom anxiety, depression, functional impairment with chronic pain psychosomatic disorders.
