Food allergy has been indicated as the most frequent adverse reaction to food ingredients over past few years. Since only way avoid occurrence of allergic phenomena is eliminate allergenic foods, it essential have complete and accurate information on components foodstuff. In this framework, mandatory crucial provide fast, cost-effective, affordable, reliable analysis methods for screening specific allergen content in products. This review reports research advancements concerning detection, involving electrochemical biosensors. It focuses sensing strategies evidencing different types recognition elements such antibodies, nucleic acids, cells, among others, nanomaterial role, several techniques involved last, but not least, ad hoc electrodic surface modification approaches. Moreover, a selection recent sensors detection are reported critically analyzed terms sensors’ analytical performances. Finally, advantages, limitations, potentialities practical applications biosensors allergens discussed.
