Abstract Background Increasing demands, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, have presented substantial challenges to global healthcare systems, resulting in staff shortages and overcrowded emergency rooms. Health kiosks emerged a promising solution improve overall efficiency accessibility. However, although are commonly used worldwide for access information financial services, health kiosk industry, valued at $800 million, accounts just 1.9% of $42 billion market. This review aims bridge research-to-practice gap by examining development technology from 2013 2023. Methods We conducted systematic search across PubMed, IEEE Xplore, Google Scholar databases, identifying 5,537 articles, with 36 studies meeting inclusion criteria detailed analysis. evaluated each study based on purpose, targeted diseases, measured vital signs, user demographics, along an assessment limitations participant selection data reporting. Results The findings reveal that blood pressure is most frequently sign, utilized 34% studies. Furthermore, cardiovascular disease detection emerges primary motivation 56% included United States, India, Kingdom notable contributors, accounting 43% reviewed articles. Our reveals considerable reporting many Additionally, several research gaps remain, including lack performance testing, experience evaluation, clinical intervention, standardization, inadequate sanitization protocols. Conclusions highlights kiosks’ potential ease burden system expand widespread adoption hindered technical, regulatory, challenges.
