Salinity poses a significant challenge in modern agriculture, often inhibiting growth and yield, especially sensitive crops like onions (Allium cepa L.). This study evaluated the effectiveness of freshwater-algae-based biostimulant on two onion cultivars, Franciscana IPA-10 Vale Ouro IPA-11, to mitigate saline irrigation’s adverse effects. Five concentrations (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 mL L−1, applied soil) were tested, along with foliar treatments at 2 L−1 as controls. Our findings showed that applying soil boosted rates 1.0 cm per day (1), increased potassium-to-sodium ratio bulbs, improved both average bulb weight by 25.11% overall productivity 24.28%, relative untreated conditions. These results suggest is an effective method enhance resilience stress increase IPA-11 cultivars. However, while plant performance, it did not counteract accumulation salts soil. Therefore, additional management practices such leaching drainage are recommended ensure sustainable production under water irrigation.
