Abstract Policymakers worldwide set ambitious targets to increase the share of organic farming. We conduct a global, systematic literature review synthesise evidence on adoption farming and support policymakers food-value chain actors in reaching policy goals. First, we map existing research identify substantial gaps regarding focus, methodology geographical coverage. Second, using conceptual framework farmers’ process, provide an overview evidence-based recommendations scale adoption. Finally, regression analysis, show that especially market maturity level agricultural productivity matter for type recommended measures.
