Non-suicidal
self-injury
(NSSI)
has
been
tied
to
several
forms
of
emotional
and
behavioral
dysregulation
in
adolescence,
with
less
attention
paid
regulation
anger.
Most
assume
that
anger
leads
engagement
NSSI,
rather
than
the
reverse.
However,
it
is
plausible
NSSI
compromises
adolescents'
abilities
regulate
their
emotions,
including
anger,
because
may
reduce
development
alternative
regulatory
strategies
intensify
negative
emotions
by
reducing
tolerance
distress.
Using
three
waves
data
from
a
sample
adolescents

Abstract
Background
Nonsuicidal
self-injury
(NSSI)
is
highly
prevalent
in
adolescents.
In
survey
and
interview
studies
assessing
NSSI,
methods
of
assessment
have
been
shown
to
influence
prevalence
estimates.
However,
knowledge
which
groups
adolescents
that
are
identified
with
different
measurement
lacking,
the
characteristics
yet

investigated.

only
a
handful

Abstract
Background
Non-suicidal
self-injury

trend
