Abstract Background There is growing concern about the rising prevalence of HIV infection among adolescents and young people worldwide various challenges that accompany living with this population. This study investigated social psychological complexities in selected treatment health facilities Kwara State, Nigeria. Methods Study adopted qualitative data collection method six focus group discussions (FGDs) conducted across three facilities, sessions each for both males females. Discussions were English Yoruba languages, audio-recorded, transcribed, translated into English. Content analysis was performed using MAXQDA Analytic Pro 2020. Results A total 44 participants, comprising 24 20 females aged 10 to 19, participated FGDs. More than ninety percent had not disclosed their status anyone beyond care providers, parents/caregivers, a few immediate family members. Keeping private helped mitigate stigma discrimination. Common reactions disclosure included sadness, hopelessness, bitterness. However, Operation Triple Zero program, which offered peer-to-peer learning effective mental services has been very helpful. Also, sexual risk behavior still high sexually active despite HIV-positive status. Conclusion Adolescents face numerous challenges, including sadness exposes them disorders. acknowledged as most platform meeting psychosocial needs.
