Sapovirus (SaV) is a major pathogen responsible for acute gastroenteritis (AGE), and its incidence has been increasing in recent years. This study investigates the prevalence genetic characteristics of SaV Shandong Province during 2022–2023, based on surveillance network covering all age groups. Samples were obtained from viral diarrhea 2022–2023. SaVs identified through quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR). PCR amplification Sanger sequencing performed positive samples, whole-genome was conducted using metagenomic technology. Sequence analysis BioEdit 7.0.9.0 MEGA X, while statistical with SPSS 26.0. A total 157 SaV-positive cases identified, resulting positivity rate 1.12%. The 0.75% 2022 it increased significantly to 1.42% 2023. highest rates both 2023 observed November. 3–5-year-old group. In 2022, Dongying City had rate, Zaozhuang exhibited vomiting patients higher compared SaV-negative (P = 0.002). Eight genotypes VP1 RdRp regions. complete genome sequence GI.3 strain showed that NS1 (5.88%, 4/68) region most prone amino acid variation, followed by VP2 (5.45%, 9/165) within same genotype. infections are more prevalent cold weather, young children being particularly susceptible. accompanied an diversity genotypes, 2022. exhibits biggest variation genotype, indicating attention should be paid other regions besides future study. Ongoing recommended effective prevention control.
